Mark’s Top 5 Upcoming Games of 2014

There are plenty of games out later this year and whilst I can’t wait to get my hands on the majority of them, there are a handful of games that I am really looking forward to picking up and playing. Below are some of these games that I am excited to play when they are released later on this year.

1. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

I’m really looking forward to playing this series of games again, the Mater Chief Collection will include Halo: Combat Evolved anniversary version with updated graphics and Halo 2 will be receiving the same treatment. Halo 3 and Halo 4 are included too, but won’t be receiving the same treatment as Halo: CE and Halo 2. Not to mention the return of the Halo Multiplayer with maps spanning across all 4 games and will run on dedicated servers, as well as beta access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer and exclusive access to the upcoming Halo TV series.

2. Assassin’s Creed Unity

I have been a fan of the Assassin’s Creed games since the Ezio saga and whilst the series has had some questionable games and protagonists, it is still one of my favourite series out at the moment. With that, the new Assassin’s Creed will feature a new assassin and will take part in France during the French Revolution. The whole of Paris is available as well as the catacombs underneath the city. Another new thing that I was impressed by whilst watching the trailer was the new way the assassin scales down buildings. No more just jumping off and hoping for the best, it’s new and impressive and can’t wait to get to grips with that and other new features in November.

3. Tom Clancy’s: The Division

Another one by Ubisoft, and even though this is meant to be my games of 2014 and this game isn’t out til 2015 I cannot wait for it. The Division was shown last year with a small gameplay trailer at E3 and a new gameplay trailer was shown this year at E3. Division shows what would happen in the event of a deadly epidemic. Open world seems to be the big feature this year in video games and in The Division, New York City is yours to explore on your own or with friends. The Division looks to be a big competitor against Destiny as they both have many of the same elements and I am excited to see how it stacks up against Destiny.

4. Sunset Overdrive

I’ve got mixed feelings about this game, from what I have seen at E3 and YouTube it looks really fun and entertaining, running around making loads of cool weapons and the characters seem really fun as well. However considering I haven’t seen any gameplay of this game yet I’m a bit apprehensive on how it will actually play like compared to the CGI trailers I have seen at E3 and such. I’m excited as their really isn’t that many exclusive games out on Xbox one as of yet and leading in to 2015 that genuinely ave me excited but I think this may be one of them.

5. LittleBigPlanet 3

I had a feeling this game was going to be announced at E3, but I didn’t expect it to look as good as it does. I’m glad to see Sackboy coming to PlayStation 4 as the last two games on the PlayStation 3 were really good and so was the version developed for the PlayStation Vita, Sackboy is joined by 3 new companions who each have their own abilities to help you navigate through all of the levels in the world of LittlebigPlanet. Play Create Share is the essence of Media Molecule who develop the LBP games and I cannot wait to see what new tools and features will be included for people to create their own worlds and share them with the massive LBP community.

So there you have it, just some of 2014’s future releases that I am really looking forward to playing, again though these are just some of the games that I am looking forward to. I know there are a lot more coming than just these five, so what games are you looking forward to that are coming out in the next few months? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
