New Tomb Raider Will Be Xbox One Exclusive
Both Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics announced at Gamescom that the sequel to last years Tomb Raider reboot will be heading to the Xbox One exclusively.
Phil Harrison of Microsoft went on to say at the press conference that Crystal Dynamics are working with Microsoft to bring the game to Xbox One in 2015. He also went on to explain that the game will be even grater than the last one with more in-depth tomb raiding and a vast open world for Lara to explore. The compound bow will return in Rise of The Tomb Raider Lara’s main weapon of choice in her origins story.
Head of Crystal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher took to the Tomb Raider tumblr to confirm that the title will indeed only be available on Xbox one rather than a timed exclusive; “Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011,” he writes. “We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past – we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.”
Whilst this shocking news for PlayStation say that they aren’t leaving them completely:
“This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.”
What’s your take on this, excited that Rise of The Tomb Raider is and Xbox One Exclusive or are you unhappy that it won’t be available on PlayStation 4?
